Deuteronomy 29:9 Keep therefore the words of this covenant, and do them, that ye may prosper in all that ye do.
We are commanded to keep the words of the covenant (specifically written to Israel, but application to believers keeping the Word of God). The question that must then be answered is “Where is this Word?”
Deuteronomy 30:11-14 For this commandment which I command thee this day, it is not hidden from thee, neither is it far off. 12 It is not in heaven, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go up for us to heaven, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it? 13 Neither is it beyond the sea, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it? 14 But the word is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it.
The answer is that the Word is close, near, accessible. No one is without excuse. It is not hidden, difficult to attain, and no mediator is necessary. God has given us His Word, it is near, even in our mouths, and we are to keep it.
“Obedience brings blessing; disobedience brings consequences.”
